Breaking Grips vs Lapel Guard → Back Step Pass vs Lapel Guard → Counter vs Under Hook from Side Control → Toreando Pass vs Lapel Guard
2 Part Lesson — Marcelo talks more concerning the "Lapel Guard" and its attacks: [I] If you cannot preemptively act against your opponent's Lapel Guard Entry by diving for an underhook, attempt the Back Step Pass and land heavily on his arm. If he opens his elbow, shoot your arm through for a Reverse Underhook and work the legs for the pass. Hold the top position by pulling up on the opponent's nearside leg, preventing him from generating space with a bridge. [II] If your opponent is seated with your lapel in hand, pin his legs down and prevent him from lassoing around your skirt-tail to prevent further entanglement. Run around to pass his guard while his hands are preoccupied with your gi. Don't give anyone time to play into their game, especially when it's not a game you're well versed in yourself.
