Double Over Hook Control from Butterfly
3 Part Lesson — Marcelo sweeps an overly defensive kneeling opponent: [I] If you cannot find control over your opponent's hands, elbows, or body, open yourself up by reaching for Double Overhook Control. Keep the plane of your back tilted forward to prevent him from tightening his Double Underhooks. Stomp out his knee to break his base for a quick and easy Hook Sweep from Butterfly with the Double Overhook Control. If he bases out to prevent the sweep, quickly shift gears and switch your hip, using your Overhooks to help turn his shoulder to the opposite side for a follow-up sweep. [II] If your opponent yanks out one of his arms out of your Double Overhook Control, immediately answer back with a Collar Tie for the Hook Sweep. [III] If you encounter difficulty reaching his knees or lifting with your hook, try scooting forward where you can then scoop up his base and contract your limbs for another chance to sweep.
