North South Choke
Marcelo talks about developing habits for setting up the North/South Choke. Learning how to execute the choke when training nogi can be beneficial for integrating the correct sensitivity necessary to coordinate your movements and notice your opponent's vulnerabilities. The opponent is susceptible to the choke when they are flat on their back with their head facing straight up or away; if they look in toward your position, you will have to clean up your control by using your hip to push their face up and/or away. If your opponent is turning their entire body using the power of their legs to help rotate, you will have to slow them down and keep them flat by posting against their hip and underhooking the nearside leg (similar to the Navy-Ride, Arm-Turk, Half-Cradle techniques from Folkstyle Wrestling).
