3 Part Lesson — Marcelo walks into his opponent's guard: [I] Penetrate the inside of your opponent's Seated/Open Guard (Koala, Sit-Up, Upright, Butterfly, Split-Guard, et al.) by stepping your lead leg in between his or her legs. Continue to use your hands to monitor their grips from attaching too tightly to your knee. When they lurch forward, snap their head down into a Guillotine Choke. [II] If you miss the chance to attack the neck and the opponent seizes your leg, press them back down flat with a Back Step Pass. Try extracting your foot by yanking your leg out from the top while controlling the Far-Side Arm. [III] If the opponent tries to turn up from the Back-Step/Reverse-Half Guard Position, you can try to break the momentum with a Guillotine Choke attempt. However, if your opponent begins lifting up your leg before you can Back-Step, use your foot to kick the opponent back down and keep them from coming up with a Single.
