2-Part Advanced Lesson -- Bernardo converts the Spider-Guard into passing opportunities: If your opponent secures both a Lasso-Hook and Stirrup (Foot-on-Biceps) from Double-Sleeve Control (Spider-Guard), walk away from the Lasso-side so that you can thrust your hips forwards and pop off their foot from your arm. Once they've lost the Stirrup, place your hand down on the mat inside between their legs and run back towards the Lasso; deal with it by stepping over the top of their foot with your outside-leg while keeping your hips high. Drive your head and shoulders into position for the Over/Under-Pass (a la Faria) and work to break their sleeve-grip from the Lasso as you pass yourself into Side-Control. [2:51] Alternatively, you can cut your knee across your opponent's leg after clearing yourself of the Foot-on-Biceps control; with their leg pinned down momentarily, latch onto their collar and cut your opposite knee around their thigh, flopping your hip down while swinging your other leg out for the Long-Step. Continue working your hand-free towards the outside of their knee to free yourself of the remaining Lasso-Control.
