Single-Leg Stack & Over/Under Pass vs Open Guard
Master Fabio Gurgel walks around his seminar to advise on his Over/Under Pass: Maintaining consistent forward pressure onto your opponent is a key component in executing the pass. Pummel your arm underneath your opponent's leg to assume what is known as the Miragaia Position, effectively a variation of the Headquarters Position that emphasizes inside control rather than stepping over your opponent's leg to being your pass. Grabbing onto their lapel with your under-hooking hand, pull yourself close while controlling the opposite side pant-leg with your other hand. Drive forward and walk your knees behind your opponent's legs, making sure not to alleviate the pressure from top by accidentally putting your knees on the mat. Break your opponent down onto their side, so that their knees are facing away from you, before reaching for your Cross-Face to consolidate Side-Control. Insert your knee underneath their near-side armpit as you shift upward and to dominate the upper-body and isolate their elbow for future attacks.
