Marcelo insists on Tyga learning how to pressure forward by breaking frames against an opponent's shell: Passing an advanced guard player requires a fair amount of energy expenditure that one normally wouldn't need to harness when opposite inexperienced retention skills; push forward and immediately remove barriers before they even set an effect. Once you've cleared your opponent's feet, then knees, work to advance your base by stepping around their hips while simultaneously clearing any shoulder posts. Aim for your opponent's elbows to find an easier oriented target and try pinning them down while getting your bearings for the next step. Use your knees to help drive down onto your opponent's legs to help stabilize them long enough to implement a particular pass, e.g. a Standing-Step Pass (a.k.a. X-Pass, High-Step, et al.) to Knee-on-Belly, or even a Knee-Slide Pass (a.k.a. Knee-Cut, Knee-Through, et al.) into a Modified Scarf-Hold.
