Marcelo & Rush briefly discuss various aspects of the Inverted-Armbar: One of the key details for success in the execution of the Inverted-Armbar (a.k.a. Reverse-Armbar, Razor-Lock, Ude-Gatame, Telephone-Armbar, et al.) is the idea of a sudden finish via strong breaking mechanics; don't give your opponent time to react and maneuver out of the position by slowly turning on the pressure for the tap. Once you commit to the attack, immediately apply downward force through your opponent's elbow and steer it away from any countering rotation. Implementing this submission from a Butterfly-Guard works exceedingly well since you have control over your opponent's hips and can use your hooks to place them into the proper positioning for the arm-lock. Once can also garner sufficient skill with the submission from a Closed-Guard; however, it can be much easier for your opponent to defend by squaring themselves up and driving back into your pressure.
