Marcelo & Joel help Rush with an important set of skills for transitioning out of Closed-Guard into Butterfly-Guard with 2on1-Control: Break your opponent's grip from your lapel and grab onto their elbow for 2on1-Control. Shift onto your hip sideways with a hip-escape while inserting your top-knee against their chest or shoulder. Use your legs to help create enough space to safely sit up while keeping control of their arm with the 2on1. Allow your feet to drop down inside between their knees to begin acting as Butterfly-Hooks for an attack. Dedicate two hands to stripping off your opponent's hand from your gi jacket, and consider accompanying the motion with pressure exerted from your knees and feet to help push them away.
