Marcelo & Jon help Rush with a subtle yet critical detail for entering the Single-Leg X-Guard: After pummeling your shin in front of your opponent's shin from the Seated Butterfly-Guard, elevate your opponent's leg while holding onto it with Single-Leg Control; it is important to grab your opponent's leg in such a way that it can be redirected away from a potential Knee-Slide or Knee-Cut Pass. This is especially important when you are momentarily stuck flat on your back and still working to fully enter into your 1Leg-X Position. Reach your fingers around your opponent's knee from the outside-in, wrapping your hand around their kneecap. You can also use your other hand to help push and guide your opponent's knee away from the inside so that you can eventually climb your legs around and clamp down for the Single-Leg X.
