Marcelo helps Rob get comfortable holding onto Headquarters for a pass: Whenever your opponent is competent playing guard with their hips tilted towards the outside of your lead-leg, e.g. a phenotype of some Reverse-Guard (a.k.a. R-Guard, Reverse-Z, Standing Krab-Guard, Reverse-Butterfly, Fireman's-Guard, Classic Reverse-DLR, et al.), you must be wary of a strong elevation and/or subsequent off-balance from the inside-hook. Don't let your opponent lift your leg up freely and possibly scoop underneath it into a leg-lock or sweep; hook your toes under their thigh to help block them from raising up your leg. Begin testing their inside-knee for weaknesses and possible openings that can connect into potential passes. Press with your hands against their knee to feel out where best to take their hips and followthrough with an attack. If you decided to push their knee inwards for a Knee-Slide Pass, make sure to block their other leg from following in and shielding you away from the cut. You may be able to smash their legs together and bring the knee towards the outside for a Folding-Pass or even a Leg-Over Pass.
