2 Part Technique - Pounce into Over Under Control against your opponent's butterfly guard by drop-stepping your underhook side's knee in between his legs and the other off to the outside for the half guard. Land with your chest weight off on his arm while you hold the overhook, and bring your knee up to your elbow so that your foot can reach the top of his knee that holds the figure-four. Use this placement to push your knee through his half, where you can cut it to the outside and slide free of his half guard -finishing with proper side control. If he bites down tightly onto your foot once you've freed your knee, take a moment to analyze which configuration of half guard he is using to stop your pass; either the outside figure-four, or the inside figure four. In either scenario, guide your toes so that your foot enter the split between his calves, and then apply the foot stomp to free your ankle for the pass.
