2 Part Lesson — Marcelo finds his comfort zone against de la Riva Guard: [I] Use the heel of your palm to pin your opponent's torso as you direct your lead knee to the outside against his hook. Use your other hand to clear his foot from your hip by either grabbing his ankle or his pants and stepping inside or outside of his leg. [II] If you encounter difficulty controlling his leg with your lone arm, either sit down on his shin when your leg is outside, or place his leg on your hip when your leg is inside. Wait for the opportunity to attack after you've bought yourself time with this defensive base.
