3 Part Lesson — Marcelo drowns his opponent with the Guillotine: [I] Snap your opponent's head onto the blade of your forearm and place your chest on top of his head to begin choking if he lifts your foot up for a Single Leg Takedown. Try to control your landing and sit down with control of his neck. If he doesn't tap from your initial grip, tuck his head under your armpit, bring your elbow high up onto his shoulder, and swing your leg across his back for the Marcelotine finish. [II] Practice finishing the Guillotine when your opponent successfully hits the Single Leg Takedown before you can get to the mat on your own terms. Don't try to rip the opponent's head off; simply maintain a tight hold and let the strangle do its work. If your opponent tries to run to your side, quickly catch his legs in any guard configuration that slows him down long enough for the choke to set. [III] If your opponent tries to bail out of the choke and flops or rolls to the side, immediately follow him where he goes until you can finish from a static position.
