2 Part Lesson — Marcelo defends against Spider Guard: [I] After using your knee to bump and clear your opponent's foot from off of your biceps, place either knee inside to prevent a transition to the Triangle. Fight to win a grip on his wrist and twist his arm to weaken his sleeve grip. Next, address the opposite side and free yourself from the Lasso by circling your hand to the outside of his leg and walking it up his pants until his grip breaks. [II] If your arm is deep in the Lasso, use your other hand to make a cross grip on his wrist to help stabilize his grip as you yank. If you cannot yank free, grab his wrist and pull his arm toward, bringing him onto his side, allowing you to circle your hand to the outside. If while breaking the Lasso your opponent grabs your free hand, immediately twist his grip and free your arm again before moving onto the Lasso.
