Reverse Hook Sweep vs Back Body Lock → Hip Roll Escape vs Back Body Lock
2 Part Lesson — Marcelo recovers out of a Back Bodylock: [I] If your opponent captures your hips, perhaps after you turn around to kick free from a Single, place importance on preventing two things: 1. Avoid a potential Suplex; drop your weight low and hang off of your opponent's grip. And, 2. Don't allow your opponent to sit on top of your knee; keep your feet far away and sit down low. Drop down into a James Brown Half-Split and hook the inside of your opponent's thigh with your foot for a Reverse Hook Sweep. Try to get on top or squirm your shoulders onto the mat to break free from his control. [II] If your encounter difficulty reaching your opponent's leg, you can also attempt the reversal by starting from a kneeling position; just don't hesitate in the position for too long, otherwise you may risk being driven down. If your opponent circles free from your hook and you are left sitting down in his Back Bodylock, roll atop your shoulders and drive your hips high onto his shoulder for a Jegueplata. You may end up on top on his back or side, or possibly only breaking his grip.
