2 Part Lesson — Marcelo back-steps out of De la Riva: [I] If your opponent's DLR-Hook can be pressed low with your knee toward the outside, you may have enough clearance to simply cross through for a Double Knee Slide Pass. However, if there isn't enough room for this, you can opt to wipe over the top of his shin and grip, landing on the other side of his De la Riva Hook; make sure to pummel your toes around his shin and bring both feet to the other side during the Back Step. [II] If your opponent stops you halfway, hold off his far leg from kicking, use your grip to post on the chest, and free yourself from his grip on your pants by kicking his leg with your free foot.
