3 Part Lesson — Marcelo warns his students about two judo submissions: [I] If your opponent switches to "Judo Side Control" aka Kesagatame, either hide your elbow or make a grip with your nearside hand; don't allow your opponent to isolate your arm under his leg for Kesagarami. Bump the opponent's weight on top of your torso until you can roll him to the opposite side for a reversal. [II] If you cannot load his weight, turnover onto your knees and drive behind his back until you can release your head from his hold. [III] Be mindful of your neck being open, even when you are in seemingly "safe" positions e.g. Half Guard Top or Bottom, and Closed Guard. Tuck your chin and keep your head close to the opponent's head to avoid Sodegurumajime aka The Ezekiel Choke.
