Guillotine Escape vs Closed Guard
3 Part Lesson — Marcelo defends the Guillotine from Closed Guard: [I] Immediately reach over top of your opponent's shoulder to prevent the High-Elbow Finish as you stack up with a tripod; begin prying off the grip from your neck with your free hand, pushing the knuckles and backhand out of the grip. [II] If you couldn't catch the High-Elbow, bail from the top position and fall of to the side into the Mount. Before he can establish a solid control from the Mount Position, you should be pressing the hips and escaping your legs. Keep the opponent on his hip with the High-Elbow down on the mat. Begin securing the top position and covering the shoulder to prevent the choke. [III] It is important not to pull your opponent directly into the Mount Position. You should begin escaping the Mount before you fall flat to your back as you give up the top position.
