2 Part Lesson — Marcelo avoids getting ankle-locked: [I] If your opponent sweeps you back into 50/50, stay on your knee and find the hands; prevent him or her from controlling your foot. Swing your foot across the opponent's body out of the 50/50 and into 50/Zero. Hide your foot behind your grips and secure an Underhook and/or Head Control to Smash Pas out of the Empty-Half Guard. [II] If your opponent begins to stretch out with your foot, immediately latch onto his or her head and prevent them from going belly-down. Keep them in front of you until you can begin freeing your foot from the armpit and across the body to safety.
