3 Part Technique - One of the easiest ways to set-up the Rear Naked Choke is by offensively outnumbering your opponent's defending controls. A common situation in which this can be accomplished is when he tries to remove your back-hook with his hand: Allow his arm to extend out with your heel and use 1on1 wrist control to reset the hook, but now with his arm trapped underneath. Now you will be able to attack his neck with a 2:1 advantage; simply hold off his remaining arm and peel back his forehead to expose his throat for the choke. This method may require you to clear off his lone hand from your choke after chopping onto his neck, and it should also be finished with the Straight-Choke variation of the Rear Naked. Against strong opponents, the Arm Trap can be a temporary solution for immobilizing his defense, so don't vacillate on the choke and be prepared to clear away both hands once across the neck if he frees himself.
