2 Part Technique - Marcelo was inspired to teach this lesson after witnessing a match during the Ultimate Absolute 2 competition here in NYC. If an opponent is trying to stall out your Closed Guard by hugging your hips and keeping his posture low on top of you, explode open some space between you by pedaling with the Strong Hip Escape. Now, the tables have turned and your opponent will either have to escape away from you, thus releasing you from the stall, or he will succumb to the Omoplata. If he does begin posturing away, use your elbow to break him back down and escape your hip as before to finish with the shoulderlock.
