2 Part Technique - Know the consequences of your attack. What are the consequences of the Seatbelt with hooks set? To escape the back, your opponent's best chance is to lay on the side of your underhook so his shoulders can touch the mat. There is an opportunity to attack his neck when he tries to move to this escape-side of your Back Control. If you miss, re-fasten the Seatbelt and take out your bottom hook to push back to the safe-side. To summarize: The Seatbelt is an asymmetric control; consequentially, one side is easier to escape from than the other. Knowing this fact, will give you a chance to sink the Rear Naked if your opponent carelessly leaves his neck open as he tries to escape.
