3 Part Technique - In this instructional, Paul elucidates the idea of posture inside the Closed Guard, and how an awareness over your weight and hips can keep you one step ahead of your opponent's attacks. We all should know by that an elevated posture inside the Closed Guard is ideal for keeping away from attacks; granted, an opponent who wishes to play from Closed Guard will be well versed in tactics for breaking your posture back down. When you feel the opponent attempts to crunch you close, roll your hip-weight back against the pull. If he tries to capitalize on your shift with a Hip Bump Sweep, prepare to raise your hips up and vault over his now opened guard for the Back. If he does hit the sweep, immediately rush his leg into Half Guard with the Turning Escape and slide up and around for the Seatbelt.
