Over Under Control from Butterfly, Hook Sweep from Butterfly, Double Under Control Hook Lift from Butterfly, 1Leg X Guard Entry, 1Leg X Guard Sweep from 1Leg X Guard
2 Part Technique - Marcelo guides Paul and Henrique through a lesson designed to teach his Advanced Class the importance of knowing when to batten down the hatches, and tense up the moment your opponent decides to counter out of your control. This applies in so many crucial positions; Marcelo provides two examples: Your opponent may try to kick himself out of your Hook Sweep from Butterfly. Prepare to keep your lifting hook sticky throughout the sweeping movement, following his thigh with your foot. If you catch him in 1Leg X-Guard, expect your opponent to try to burst out and retract his leg from your control. As soon as you feel this about to happen, usually right after securing him into the position, tighten up on his leg long enough to endure his escape attempt, and then hit him with a sweep when he tries to balance himself from the failure.
