3 Part Lesson — Marcelo shows a neat variation on taking the Back that incorporates an Arm Trap: [I] Arriving on top with Seatbelt Control against the Turtle Position, place emphasis on stabilizing your chest tightly against your opponent's upper back. If he is content on defending your hooks from the Turtle, look to trap his arm (like the Crucifix) as you pull him onto his side and onto your back-hook. Now, you have the advantage of being able to set both hooks while already trapping his arm for the choke. [II] Remember to place a concentrated effort in maintaining the Arm Trap in the event that your opponent realizes the tremendous danger. Capture 1on1 wrist control and 'turn-the-key' and/or 'inch-worm' to get underneath his chin for the Rear Naked Choke. [III] Resort to the one-armed variation of the Rear Naked Choke if your opponent will not let you release the 1on1 wrist control. The pressure for this particular variant resembles more the Straight-Choke (windpipe) over the traditional RNC (carotid).
