Single Leg Counter, Guillotine vs Takedown, Guillotine from Butterfly Guard
3 Part Lesson — Marcelo shows an escape against the Single Leg Takedown from Standing, as well as a submission opportunity if the escape fails: [I] Before your opponent can begin off-balancing your base after he captures a Single, look to free your knee from his grasp, allowing you to turn your hips away and kick your foot free from his control. [II] If you cannot your foot from his hold, don't turn away and kick him onto your back; instead, snap his head down into a Guillotine Choke. If you cannot finish from the Standing Single, settle back down to the mat into Guard and whip your elbow high onto his shoulder for the finish. [III] If the opponent captures your opposite leg, still finish with the Guillotine Choke just the same; be sure to hide the back of his neck from view with your shoulder to prevent his head from slipping out.
