3 Part Lesson — Marcelo teaches his class how to finish the Bow-N-Arrow Choke when his opponent defends by grabbing onto the collar: [I] After obtaining Seatbelt Control, if your opponent tries to roll away, follow him over and cover his hip with your lap before he lands his side on the mat. Use the momentum of his roll to fling yourself over and set your hooks; however, the opponent may continue the roll and take his hips away from your hooks. When this happens, belly down and rock him onto his side, stepping over into mount with your foot tight against his hip. Feed the cross collar into your hand and gather his top leg, sitting back for the Bow-N-Arrow Choke. [II] If the opponent defends the choke by grabbing onto his own collar, loop underneath his forearm below his elbow and pry his arm free with leverage. [III] If the opponent blocks you from stepping over into mount with your foot against his hip, step over his arm and cut inside, dragging your heel into his side. If the gap to insert your hand for the pry is not big enough, break his collar grip by pushing down on his knuckles from above.
