2 Part Lesson — Marcelo shares a couple variations of the Rear Naked Choke that he employs when his opponent removes his hooks from the Back: [I] After fastening Seatbelt Control, your opponent may attempt to roll away and prevent you from covering his hips for the hooks upon landing. While his hands are preoccupied with your legs, cut your forearm across his throat and immediately look to clasp your hands together in a Gable Grip for the Straight Choke Variation of the Rear Naked. [II] If the opponent prevents you from clasping your hands together by pinching your hand on his side, look to finish three ways; first, try to squeeze the one-armed variation of the Rear Naked Choke, clamping down on his shoulder blade and forcing your wrist into his neck. Second, if you can slip your hand free while his attention is diverted toward the one-handed choke threat, immediately clasp your hands together for the Straight Choke. And lastly, if he starts using both hands to take the pressure away from his throat, scrape off his hand from your arm and clasp the Gable Grip for the Straight finish.
