Hand Fighting from Standing, Collar Control from Standing, Breaking Gi Grips from Standing, 2on1 from Standing, Guard Pull from Standing Position
3 Part Lesson — Marcelo reveals why he focuses so much on Kumi-Kata: [I] If your opponent refuses to engage in the Hand-Fight, force him into a Grip-Battle by seizing his collar; when he tries to strip away your grip or grab your collar in return, intercept his sleeve and form the 2on1 for a guard pull or takedown. [II] If your opponent also blocks you from grabbing his collar, answer by grabbing low on the lapel and then sliding upward for the collar when he looks to break it, or feeding the jacket into your opposite hand before he can escape. [III] You need two, not one, hand to break a good collar grip; unless, you are an Olympic Judo Champion.
