2 Part Technique - The Bow and Arrow Choke is the most successful Gi Submission from the Back. Because of it's popularity, opponents will continue to learn how to defend and counter the submission. A common way to roadblock the choke is to grab your own Gi Collar before the opposition can, which will only delay the inevitability. Grab under the opponent's blocking hand and prepare the best grip possible. Once you close this hand, you will not release until the submission is finished. Use your free hand to reach under and peal away the opponent's blocking hand. Zip line your choking grip up and continue the Bow and Arrow Choke steps. If the opponent's blocking hand is to strong to peal away, press down using both of your hands as leverage. This will create space above his blocking hand to establish a new choking grip.
