Over Under Control Hook Sweep from Butterfly, X Guard Entry, Shin-in Sweep from Deep Half Guard, X Guard Entry from Deep Half, Unbalance Sweep from X Guard
4 Part Lesson — Paul strings together the Hook, Shin-In, and Unbalance Sweeps: [I] Win the Hand-Fight to gain deeper Control when your opponent opens up to retract his arms; e.g. use the 2on1 to gain Double Underhooks or Over/Under Control for the Hook Sweep from Butterfly Guard. [II] If your opponent posts out with his foot to stop the Hook Sweep, you can exchange the position for X-Guard and the Unbalance Sweep. Utilize a shrugging motion to offf balance the opponent as you trip him back with his ankle hoisted on your shoulder. [III] If your opponent is able to post out his knee and hand after you attempt the Hook Sweep, pull yourself underneath and catch his Ankle for the Shin-In Sweep. Make sure to drive up into the direction of his bent knee; you will have to overcome the opponent's ability to post with both of his hands to claim the Sweep. [IV] After sweeping your opponent back with the Shin-In Sweep, there is often an opportunity to enter directly into a pass. If you encounter trouble generating the momentum for the Shin-In Sweep, press the opponent's hip away into X-Guard for the Unbalance Sweep.
