2 Part Technique - It is common for the opponent to escape Mount by turning and pushing to Half Guard. Base your weight on the escaping side, so the opponent cannot easily escape. Leg Over using your free leg while securing an Under Hook for control. You may not be in the Mount anymore, but you are still in a dominant position. This is better than the alternative of having to work to pass his Half Guard. If the Leg Over is no longer an option because you lost the timing, use a Knee Slide Pass instead. The Knee Slide works well in this situation because the opponent wants to get his hip under your knee in Half Guard to completely escape the Mount. His hip movement will move the weight of your knee pressure from one side of his body to the other, which creates the perfect opportunity for the wedge of a Knee Slide Pass.
