3 Part Lesson — Marcelo strings together a series of submissions: [I] If you cannot finish the One-Handed Straight Choke by holding 1on1 Wrist Control and digging into his scapula with your choking hand, lay your opponent back as you release the 1on1 and immediately block him from grabbing onto your choking arm; use your own forearm to prevent him from interrupting the choke as you peel off his other hand from your choking arm. Once both hands are free from your arm, clasp together a Gable Grip, lever your forearm behind his shoulder, lay him back flat, and squeeze straight across his throat for the tap. [II] If your opponent hides his neck by placing his chin inside your choke, don't break his jaw; it violates the strength principle of jiu-jitsu. You should only use technical movements that will work on any opponent regardless of how strong you or your opponent is. Lay your opponent back as you capture his free wrist while still holding the other with a 1on1. Wrap your arm around his neck for the N/S Choke. [III] If your opponent avoids the N/S Choke by turning his face inward, place his arm in the Kimura Trap and jump up onto his shoulder and over his face for the Nearside Armbar from North/South.
