3 Part Lesson — Marcelo coaches the two major submissions from the Crucifix: [I] After taking the opponent's back from an attempted X-Guard Takedown (Treetop Single-Leg Sweep), if you do not feel comfortable jumping onto his back because of the downward angle, walk to the side and place the opponent in a Seatbelt and use your legs to figure-four his nearside arm in the Crucifix. Block his other hand from stopping the Rear Naked Choke by utilizing 1on1 wrist control on the farside. [II] If the choke is unavailable, or you wish to apply a double-attack to increase your finishing percentages, work your legs down the opponent's arm, opening up your knees, until you meet his wrist, but no further. Pressure with your hips down toward the mat to hyperextend his elbow for the tap.
