2 Part Lesson — MG reviews the proper way to cinch up the RNC: After jumping on your opponent's back for Seatbelt Control, after countering his Single Leg Escape against your X-Guard Tech-Lift, fight for Double 1on1 Wrist Control from the Over/Under Position and wait to strike his throat for the Choke. Anchor your fingers into his shoulder blade and clasp your hands together in a Gable Grip to finish with the Staight Choke (RNC Variation) or finish with the traditional figure-four configuration. [II] If, or more aptly, when, your opponent grabs your choking hand, immediately scrape it off with a palm strike and quickly go for the finish. Be wary of your partner/opponent falling asleep and toppling onto you in a splash or dive.
