2 Part Lesson — Marcelo defends against the Over/Under (Miragaia) Pass: [I] Whenever your opponent manages to commit both of his arms underneath your legs for a Stacking Pass, immediately look to lift your hips off the mat and lay heavily against his biceps, cupping your hands behind his elbows. Relieve pressure from the stack by walking your shoulders and prepare to whip your foot in between your bodies to build back your guard. [II] If your opponent assumes an Over/Under position with his arms against your legs (Bernardo's Pass), he has the option of completing a Single Leg Stack after grabbing your collar, trapping your bottom leg in an Inverted Kneebar, or smashing his shoulder down to circle around into Side Control. Take away his Single-Leg/Underhook Stacking Pass by continuing to lay your body weight onto his arm with your leg and triceps grip. Avoid the Kneebar by keeping your bottom leg bent and turned out away from hyperextension. Press his shoulder and/or face away to create room for your foot to slip across and start pushing him back to recover your guard.
