2 Part Lesson — Marcelo escapes the Mount immediately: [I] The longer you wait to escape out from underneath the Full Mount Position, the harder it is to do; your opponent can secure grips and make you carry his weight to tire you out. It is best to address the problem as soon as it begins. When your opponent lands his weight on top of your stomach, place your hands on his hips and bridge up, extending your arms to lock out the space you created. Before your frames collapse, insert one or both of your knees up through the middle and find either Butterfly Guard or Single Leg X. [II] If your opponent latches onto you with a collar grip or his hooks against your hips, connect a follow-up attempt as soon as possible. It is important to realize that not all escapes will be completed with one move; you may need to chain together another escape in a new direction. Before your opponent's knee touches back down from the first bump, push on his leg without giving up your back, and capture the Half Guard. You can transition to Half Butterfly, Closed Guard, or even Deep Half once you can place his leg in between your knees.
