Bow and Arrow Choke from Back
3 Part Lesson — Marcelo breaks down the steps toward finishing from the Back with the Gi: [I] The hardest part is making the grip on the collar that later chokes the opponent's neck. One must practice and develop confidence in making a single swift snatch high on the lapel without an inch of space remaining for a counter. Rely on the sharp edge of the lapel to make its way under the chin after you've hardened your fist around the collar. [II] Next is the angle change; shift your hips perpendicularly to that of your opponent's and keep your head close to his as well. This will help prevent escape and keep constant pressure around the neck as you begin to lean back for the finish. [III] If your opponent tries to disrupt your attack by maneuvering his weight onto you from either side and prevent you from achieving the necessary angle, simply take your hooks out and find your way back to your knees where you can step back over for the Bow-N-Arrow or pummel the arm for Katahajime.
