2 Part Lesson — Marcelo develops pressure in all positions through passing: [I] Deflect your opponent's knees from impeding your pathway around his guard by clubbing your forearm against the side of his legs and delivering your center-line across his lower torso. Secure your bodyweight on top of his legs; placing folding pressure against his abductors. Seize a grip underneath the opponent's sides to help adhere yourself to his position and anchor against any framing. Shift your weight from his hips to his shoulders by driving off your toes after you clear his Folded Hooks (Pancake Guard, Model Guard, Smashed, Empty Scissors, et al.) by windshield-wiping into a shin-staple. Look for Underhook & Head Control to stabilize the pass. [II] If you can drive a knee between his legs (Dope Mount, Reverse Leg Drag, etc) while holding down his hips with yours, you can transition directly to the Mount with little resistance for seven points. Split the fold and dive for Underhook and Head Control. Release at least the Underhook to avoid reversal when you look to establish the Mount.
