4 Part Lesson -- Paul sets up two different chokes with a particularly special grip: Overhooking your opponent's arm, angling your hip to the outside, and securing a Cross-Collar-Grip affords you the opportunity to simultaneously control your opponent's posture and free up your other hand to work for attacks to the opponent's neck. Apply a grip onto the shoulder of the opponent, opposite to the side of your Cross-Collar-Grip, and utilize your elbows to squeeze for a gi strangle. [03:22] If you cannot readily find the Overhook & Cross-Collar Choke, insert your knee inside the opponent's arm and cup the triceps. When the opponent yanks his or her arm away to evade pressure on his or her respective biceps, swing your leg over on top of his or her shoulder to set up a Triangle Choke. [09:52] Paul demonstrates an alternate method for retrieving the Overhook & Cross-Collar-Grip; pull the sleeve behind your head and swim your head and arm through the hole under the opponent's armpit to close the distance for the position (Komlock, Arm-Wrap, et cetera). If the opponent doesn't pull his or her arm away after you insert your shin inside for the Triangle, slide down to control the wrist and throw the arm to the outside. [15:39] If your opponent holds onto your leg to prevent the triangle, grab the wrist and torque the arm akin to the pressure of an Americana shoulderlock (Udegarami, Top Keylock, etc).
