2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo shows two passes against a flattened Butterfly-Guard: Pin the opponent's lower back down with a lock around the waist; make whichever grips you can along the sides of the Gi and cram the opponent's hooks into your lap. Be careful not to expose space around your elbows otherwise you risk the threat of a Kimura. Face away opposite of the side you intend to pass towards and launch your legs into the air. Depart with the leg of the knee nearest to your opponents hips when you arrive into Side Control. Crawl up to the shoulder and look to secure the top position with Underhook & Head Control. [02:33] If your opponent begins to escape his or her hips and brings a knee up through against your chest, smack the legs together and fold them underneath the weight of your sprawl. Clear the feet from your calves with your far-foot before circling around to Side Control.
