1 Part Lesson -- Marcelo applies a spinning back-take: If your opponent establishes an Underhook while held underneath your Side Control, you may not have time to switch your arms to run and hold North/South; when you adjust your hand to check the near-side hip, chances are your opponent will have bumped you and made progress toward reversal or recovery. If you can switch in time, you may be able to complete the transition northward without giving up control. However, if you miss the timing for this, ready yourself to sprawl against the potential Single Leg and run to the opposite side for Seatbelt Control. When you arrive on the other side against the Turtle, you will either have to pull your opponent onto your bottom back-hook, or tumble over to the new far-side to scoop his or her hips in a roll. Never take the back falling to the far-side without rolling through and returning to your Strong-Side Back Control (i.e., your choking arm is the opponent's pillow).
