3 Part Lesson -- Marcelo shows how to apply a Swing-Single: Use a Collar Grip to force your opponent to step forward with the leg you wish to capture; hang off of the grip with your weight as you attack this leg. Don't rise up by stepping up with your outside foot first; otherwise, you risk getting countered with an Uchimata. [02:53] When circling around to grab your opponent's leg, concentrate on downward force with the collar to fix your him or her into a vulnerable stance. [05:03] When the opportunity to sweep presents itself, don't vacillate between different options; have a particular bread-n-better move ready to go. Conversely, if you are getting swept, don't just accept the landing. Immediately, begin planning an evasive or counter movement while in mid-air and implement the technique before your opponent can establish the top position.
