Marcelo helps Jimmy avoid trouble inside the Closed-Guard with Hand-Fighting: Letting your opponent gain a grip over your jacket when you are kneeling on top inside their Closed-Guard can become the beginning of the end if you are not careful. Whether your opponent tries to latch onto any number of combinations involving your collars, lapels, or sleeves, you must be prepared to react with defensive hand control; use two hands to strip away strong grip attempts for your collar and don't let them acquire an unanchored arm. If you cannot readily circle out of a grip seizing your sleeve, settle that hand with a grip on their lapel until your free-hand can come rescue and assist it with the break. Once you are free from the sleeve-grip, immediately look to control your opponent's hands, sleeves, and wrists to help prevent reapplication. Your posture should always strive to maintain an upward trend towards standing out and escaping from your opponent's locked legs in the Closed-Guard.
