Marcelo walks through the steps towards finishing the Monoplata: Starting from Half Guard on top, if you can manage to isolate your opponent's near-side arm with your elbow and knee connected together, driving across into 3/4-Mount may afford oneself the opportunity to attack with the shoulder-lock. Alternate the weight distributed onto yoru knees such that their elbow is raised onto the platform of your lap while you keep your posture low enough to block them from pummeling it free. Push your opponent's forehead away to clear a path for your posted foot to swing over as you begin sitting alongside their near-side shoulder. Don't fall backwards like an armbar attack; instead, use your hand to help post on the mat so that you can remain seated upright as you spin to reach a perpendicular position relative to their torso. Despite having your foot still stuck inside your opponent's Quarter-Guard, you can manipulate their shoulder into hyperrotation by laterally scooting your hips into bent arm while pulling your knee behind their elbow for the tap.
