3 Part Technique - If your opponent is content on holding you defensively in half guard, switching your base from side to side can create openings for scoring an underhook when he tries to follow you. Attempt the Back Step first to release your knee from his half and look to underhook from that side. Once you've gained Underhook and Head Control, transition to mount using your free hook to pry of his lock on your foot. If he blocks the underhook, switch to the Leg Over Pass and try for it again. If he is still defending after this and climbing to your back, transition back to the Back Step for a third and final attempt for Underhook and Head Control.
