Marcelo and Mark Bocek discuss how to effectively escape an overhook from within closed guard. Circle your arm outward and then up past your opponent's hip with a closed fist. If you find that the space for this isn't sufficient for your forearm to pass through, increase the space by driving forward with shoulder pressure. Keep your head underneath his chin to avoid creating space for Rubber Guard attacks.
