Back Step Pass vs Half Guard, Underhook and Head vs Half Guard, Back Step Half Guard to Mount, Leg Over Pass vs Half Guard, Folding Pass vs Butterfly
2 Part Technique - An opponent with a strong butterfly game will oftentimes follow your leg with his hook after you've launched into your back step pass. Stop yourself from landing your hip onto the mat by remaining posted on your hand and look to strike his knee down to the mat as you hop over into the mount position. If he happens to recover the half guard during this transition, extend your free leg and sit on top of the opponent to prepare for the Leg Over Pass. Swing your leg to the other side while looking to secure Underhook and Head Control, and use this leg to kick yourself free from his half guard. If he prevents you from mounting from the back step by holding onto your ankle with his hand, use this opportunity to switch to the Folding Pass by striking his knee as before and freeing your leg with a sprawl.
