2 Part Technique - Freeing your leg from the Single Leg takedown can be as simple as applying Collar & Elbow control while standing and knocking your opponent off balance. Use the upper body control to steer him toward the mat, forcing him to either post against the motion or loose up his hold on your leg. Once he eases up on the takedown, sprawl your leg backward, or even kick off of his lap if you need a more explosive escape. If he refuses to let go of the single, snap his head down into the guillotine choke. If you fall to the mat, don't go to your back until you've pushed his head under your armpit. Shelf your elbow and/or your leg on top of his shoulder while you squeeze for the finish, but if he's captured this leg in the single, try to secure a guard around his legs while you look for the tap.
